invited you to the
4thEuropean Veterinary MRI-User Meeting in Ghent, Belgium
Friday and Saturday 16 th & 17th of May 2008
The 2008 meeting − 16 & 17 May, in Ghent − was again a success!
A lot of delegates attended the meeting, together with several supporting companies. The topics of this year’s event were: ‘The use of contrast media in MRI’, and ‘Imaging of the splanchnocranium in horses and small animals’.
A highlight this year was the attendance of both the Rector of Ghent University, Prof. Dr. P. Van Cauwenberge, and the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. H. De Brabander. They generously offered their time to officially open the meeting.
The lectures were given by twelve specialists from industry and veterinary clinics. It was also great that two colleagues volunteered to present free communications. The film reading sessions in small groups on Saturday morning attracted a lot of interest. In addition to the scientific programme, a social event was organised: a Belgian Party on Friday evening for all the attendees. The Belgian beer flowed copiously, and the occasion provided a good opportunity to discuss and talk to friends and colleagues.
This meeting was only made possible by the contributions of our sponsors. Once again, we wish to thank: Hitachi, Bayer Schering Pharma, Esaote/Pie Medical, VTrade/Vet Paramed, Promedconcept, Toshiba, Esaote and Hallmarcq for their presence and support.
A lot of people filled in the evaluation form, which asked everyone’s opinion regarding the set-up of the meeting. The vast majority are in favour of keeping the current concept of the meeting the way it is. So, the structure with technical and physical aspects, clinical presentations, comparative aspect with CT and wet labs will be the format for future meetings as well.
The annual meeting is the high point of the year − the "must attend" conference for MRI users in the veterinary field − and an event that is generating keen interest.
The meeting organisers are already looking forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting, which will take place in
Dr. I. Gielen, Prof. Dr. H. van Bree, organizing committee, 2008.
