6th European Veterinary MRI User Meeting

Ghent, Belgium, 2010

The 6th MRI User Meeting, 7 and 8 May 2010, in Ghent, was again a success!

A lot of delegates attended the meeting, together with several supporting companies. The topics of this year’s event were: Soft tissue imaging and thoracic imaging in small animals; New ideas in tendon imaging in horses; and Inversion recovery sequences and fat-suppression sequences.

A highlight this year was that, of the 3 meetings that have now been organised in Ghent, this one drew the largest number of attendees – a sign that more and more colleagues are involved and interested in MR!

The lectures were given by 12 specialists from industry and veterinary clinics: a big thank you to them for being so willing to share their knowledge with us.

In addition to the scientific programme, a social event was organised: a (Belgian) Italian Style walking dinner on Friday evening. This occasion provided a great opportunity to discuss and talk with friends and colleagues.

The meeting would not have been possible without the contributions of our sponsors.) Once again, we wish to thank: Hitachi, Paramed, Esaote/Pie Medical, GE Healthcare, Janssen Animal Health, Hallmarq and Story Scientia for their presence and support.

The structure of the meeting – with technical and physical aspects, clinical presentations and some comparative aspects, together with the wet labs – will remain the set-up for future meetings as well.

The annual MRI User Meeting is the high point of the year for MRI users in the veterinary field. The event generates keen interest and  has become a ‘must attend’ conference!

The meeting organisers are already looking forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting, which will take place in Bern, Switzerland, on May 14th & 15th 2011.

The topics for the 2011 meeting will beTechnical notes: functional and interventional MRI

From the root to the target: peripheral nerves and neuromuscular diseases
